Surbiton, Surrey
Surbiton is home: our base is in KT5, so a survey anywhere in Surbiton, Berrylands or Tolworth is a short trip for Marcus. We fit Velux windows, flat glass rooflights, roof lanterns, sun tunnels and flat roofs across KT5 and KT6.
Our latest Surbiton job was a loft with bare rafters and no daylight at all. We cut and trimmed two openings, fitted two electric Velux roof windows, and weathered them into the tiles. The loft now has daylight and opens at the touch of a remote, with a rain sensor that closes the windows when the weather turns.
Surbiton grew up around its railway station in the Victorian era, and many of its streets are lined with Victorian and Edwardian houses. Their lofts and rear extensions are natural places for more daylight: roof windows to bring a loft into use, and flat glass rooflights or roof lanterns to light a kitchen at the back of a long extension. Towards Berrylands and Tolworth, the houses are more often from between the wars, with landings and hallways that a sun tunnel can light.
Surbiton is in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. Most rooflights on houses count as permitted development, but listed buildings and homes in conservation areas need the council’s approval first, and a new opening in the roof usually needs building regulations approval. We will tell you what your job needs when we come to see it.

Daylight and fresh air through a sloping roof: manual, electric and solar-powered Velux windows for lofts, vaulted ceilings and extensions.
A clean pane of sky in a flat roof: frameless-look rooflights for extensions, kitchens, hallways and landings.
A glazed lantern rising out of a flat roof: height, character and daylight for kitchens, extensions and orangeries.
Daylight piped down a mirrored tube to rooms a skylight cannot reach: landings, bathrooms, hallways and stairwells.
Velux blinds made to fit your windows: blackout for bedrooms, roller and Venetian for living spaces, and solar blinds with no wiring.
A flat roof in one seamless sheet of rubber, with rooflights and lanterns dressed in by the same team that fits them.
A hard, seamless fibreglass roof, laid in place and finished around every rooflight, upstand and edge.

Yes. Our most recent Surbiton job put two electric Velux windows into an unconverted loft. Roof windows make a loft usable for storage or a hobby room straight away, and are in place if you convert it later.
Yes. On Victorian and Edwardian roofs we can fit conservation roof windows, which have a slim, dark frame made to sit well on period slate and tile. If your house is listed or in a conservation area, the council may need to approve the work first.
