Richmond, London
Richmond is about four miles north of our base in Surbiton. Our job here replaced two old Perspex domes on a flat roof with two triple glazed flat glass rooflights.
This Richmond home had two old Perspex domes side by side on a flat roof, both clouded with age. We took them off, prepared the upstands and fitted two triple glazed flat glass rooflights in their place, with clear glass where the plastic used to be.
Richmond is a place of Georgian and Victorian houses, many of them in London stock brick, around Richmond Hill, the Green and the streets above the Thames. Plenty have flat-roofed rear extensions and back additions, where a flat glass rooflight or roof lantern brings daylight to the room below. In the loft, Velux roof windows can go on the rear slope, out of sight of the street.
Domes and older skylights fitted decades ago are often clouded, draughty or leaking now. Most can be replaced with modern sealed glass over the same opening, and if the flat roof is near the end of its life too, we renew it in EPDM rubber or GRP fibreglass in the same job.
Richmond, London
Daylight and fresh air through a sloping roof: manual, electric and solar-powered Velux windows for lofts, vaulted ceilings and extensions.
A clean pane of sky in a flat roof: frameless-look rooflights for extensions, kitchens, hallways and landings.
A glazed lantern rising out of a flat roof: height, character and daylight for kitchens, extensions and orangeries.
Daylight piped down a mirrored tube to rooms a skylight cannot reach: landings, bathrooms, hallways and stairwells.
Velux blinds made to fit your windows: blackout for bedrooms, roller and Venetian for living spaces, and solar blinds with no wiring.
A flat roof in one seamless sheet of rubber, with rooflights and lanterns dressed in by the same team that fits them.
A hard, seamless fibreglass roof, laid in place and finished around every rooflight, upstand and edge.
Yes. Old Perspex and plastic domes can usually be swapped for flat glass rooflights over the same openings, as on our Richmond job. The survey and quote are free.
The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Much of Richmond is in conservation areas, where rooflights facing the street may need permission, so check before work starts. Most rooflights at the back of a house are permitted development.
