Our work in Woking

The flat roof at the back of this Woking home had an old white uPVC lantern on a glazed base. We stripped it out, readied the opening and its upstand, and fitted a Korniche aluminium roof lantern that sits lower on the roof, with slimmer bars and larger panes.

Woking homes

Woking grew up around its railway station, which opened in 1838, and much of the town is Victorian, Edwardian and twentieth century housing. Many of these houses have since gained flat-roofed rear extensions, which a roof lantern or flat glass rooflight can light, and loft rooms, where Velux roof windows bring in daylight and air.

Flat roofs too

If an extension’s flat roof is near the end of its life, the best time to replace a lantern or add a rooflight is when the roof is renewed. We lay EPDM rubber and GRP fibreglass roofs and fit the glass in the same job.

Questions from Woking

Can you replace an old roof lantern in Woking?

Yes. An old uPVC lantern can usually be replaced with a new aluminium one over the same opening, as on our Woking job. The survey and quote are free.

Who handles planning for rooflights in Woking?

Woking Borough Council. Most rooflights and lanterns on houses are permitted development, but flats, listed buildings and homes in conservation areas have their own rules, so check before work starts.
